K.G.

I rolled over and looked at the clock on the nightstand. It was almost 4am. I nudged Big Timmy in the side for him to get up. I needed to get back to Oakley’s house to pick up my baby.

“Damn K.G., why you always do this shit? Always waiting till a nigga get into a good ass sleep. I don’t see why you can’t just stay.”

“One, you ain’t my nigga and two, I need to go get my baby.”

He rolled over and stared at me. “What? Why you looking at me like that?”

“K.G., I want to be with you. On some let’s move in together type shit.”

“Whoa! Lets pause take a breather and rewind. I’m not the relationship type. What we doing is fun, why you trying to complicate shit?” I jumped out of the bed and started putting my clothes on.

“You sound just like a nigga. Don’t give me that shit man, making excuses.”

“We can’t be together on that level. It just wouldn’t work.”

“Why not?” he asked, sitting up in bed.

“I’m broken and I can’t be fixed.”

“I just think you scared. Can you at least think about trying to entertain the idea? We can take it slow.”

I slipped on my shoes and let out a deep breath. “I can’t promise you that. You’re a great dude and I really care about you. You’re always there for me and Love. I appreciate everything you do for us.”

“Is this because of Noah?” I looked at him and didn’t respond. Noah was a touchy subject and off limits to be discussed with him. When I remained silent he got the hint and started to get dressed.

Big Timmy and me started fuckin’ around here and there about six months after Noah was killed. What started off as him being someone to confide in escalated into him chewing me out every now and then, into us fuckin’ each other’s brains out every chance we got. I couldn’t lie and say I didn’t feel anything for him. I just knew I wasn’t capable of fully committing to him.

We made small talk as we rode to Oakley’s house. By his tone of voice I could tell he was a lil’ salty. “If and when I’m ready for a relationship, you will be the first to know. Deal?” I had to say something to let him know I was still interested in him. I really hoped things wouldn’t change between us.

“I guess K.G. I ain’t gonna wait forever though. Do your thang, shawty.”

“Don’t sound like it’s the end of the world. You know I fucks with you,” I said as we pulled into Oakley’s driveway.

“Just get up with me, you know I’ll be around.” I kissed him on his cheek before getting out the car. He sat in the driveway and waited until I was in the house before he pulled off.

I crept in the house, trying to be as silent as possible. I didn’t want to wake Big O.

“I don’t know what you creeping for. With yo’ loud ass.
